This year for Christmas I had a couple of goals, I wanted to reduce the amount of waste from gifts, not give sugar or alcohol and give something that can actually be used by all!

After a bit of digging around on the internet, I was inspired by a recipe for making lotion bars. What first started off as a pain relief lotion bar quickly developed into a relaxation bar. I took it one step further by adding in some magnesium flakes and to make things seasonal some frankincense and myrrh. I am SUPER excited about this combo!!!

Magnesium

Modern farming methods have led to a depletion of minerals in our soil. This means in order to get the recommended daily allowance of nutrition from foods we have to eat much more fruit and veg than 30 years ago. This is neither good for our pockets nor our waistlines!

As well as oral supplementation, we can absorb magnesium transdermally (through our skin).

Magnesium is an essential mineral and has a role in hundreds of biochemical reactions.

Every cell in our body needs it to function. Let me repeat that. EVERY CELL in our body needs it to function

Our body uses magnesium to create:

Energy from food

New proteins from amino acids

and repair RNA and DNA

Muscle movements

Low levels of magnesium have been linked to depression and anxiety

It can help to lower blood pressure, inflammation, prevent migraines, improve insulin resistance and improve PCOS symptoms

If you suffer from muscle pain, rubbing the lotion into the area of pain can help to relax muscles.

Frankincense

I didn't know much about this essential oil until recently, used in ayurvedic medicine for centuries, this oil can help to promote feelings of relaxation, reduce anxiety, it's anti-bacterial (HOW APT!!)
